UNDER THE GIBBON MOON

Summary

Roxanna knows that when the coldest of winter's air holds the Badlands in its grip, that is the best time for a picnic. They all get in the car, and Dad drives them, following her directions. Davy watches her in the front seat as they drive, wishing she would move closer to Dad instead of keeping a separation between them. They soon come to the spot she indicates, with a gibbon moon - one that it not quite full but oval like a monkey's head - above their heads. Soon they see fire coming from a split in the earth that opens and zigzags through the hills. They........
