The alchemist makes a point of showing Santiago how to make gold from
lead, because he wants to teach him that dreams can come true. This was

The alchemist tells the boy a story about dreams. In ancient Rome, a
man has two sons, one of whom is a soldier and one of whom is a poet.
An angel appears to the man and tells him in a dream that the words of
one of his sons will be learned and repeated throughout the world for
all generations to come. He awakes crying and proud to know this about
one of his........
The story about Christ healing not only the servant but also the soldier
reflect a basic tenet of the Catholic mass: that moment when we ask God
to come into our hearts, as symbolized by the soldier’s house, and ask
him to hea......l

The boy rides for several hours, listening carefully to what his heart
has to say. It speaks of its pride in what the boy has accomplished and
it whispers, “Be aware of the place where you are brought to tears. That’s
where I am, and that’s where your treasure is.” When he finally sees the
pyramids in the light of the moon, he falls on his knees and weeps, thanking
God for helping him find his Personal Legend and for leading him to meet
all those people who have taught him so much. Then, he looks down and
sees.........

and on the very spot where his tears fall, the scarab beetle, a sacred
