The third speaker is one more example of how Eddie Rake could always manipulate his players. He had asked Neely Crenshaw to give the final eulogy. Neely had wondered, after Miss Lila had asked him, why Coach had chosen him of all players, but there was no way to properly decline such a request. His nerves nearly getting the best of him, Neely approaches the podium and ironically remembers how Coach had once told him to harness his fear and use it to his advantage.
