Minor Characters

Cato - The male tribute from District 2, one of the wealthiest districts in Panem. He is considered to be the strongest and most threatening out of all the tributes and volunteered for the Hunger Games. He is a career tribute who has trained for the Hunger Games his entire life and leads a pack of career tributes in the Games.


Clove - The female tribute from District 2. She holds a grudge against Katniss for scoring higher than her during the training sessions and is known to be ruthless and sadistic, taking pleasure in killing the other tributes. Although she is smaller than many of the other tributes she is highly skilled at knife throwing and faster than most. She defeats Katniss in a fight and nearly kills her, but Thresh intervenes and saves Katniss’ life.

Thresh - The male tribute from District 11, who is strong and resourceful. He is viewed as the most physically strong tribute, which prompted Cato to recruit him for the Career Tributes alliance. However, Thresh refused to join them. He shows mercy to Katniss after hearing how she protected Rue and protects her against Cato and Clove.


Foxface - The female tribute from District 5. She is known to be wily and intelligent. She survives in the Games by stealing small amounts of food and supplies from the other tributes and avoids confrontation. She is killed when she steals berries from Peeta that were poisonous. She is nicknamed Foxface because of her fox like face and demeanour by Katniss but her real name is unknown.


Glimmer - The female tribute from District 1. She is a Career Tribute and is part of the Career Tribute alliance. She dies when Katniss drops a tracker jacker nest on her and some other tributes.


Primrose Everdeen (Prim) - Katniss’ 12 year old sister whom Katniss volunteers in her place when her name is drawn in The Reaping. Katniss is fiercely protective of her sister who she describes as gentle and sweet. She is also a skilled healer who learned her healing skills from their mother.


Caesar Flickerman - A television host who is responsible for interviewing the tributes before and after the Games.


President Snow - The President of Panem, he possesses total power in Panem and is seen as a cruel dictator.
